Laser therapy - a powerful medical tool
Medicine of today is dominated by expensive pharmaceuticals and advanced technologies. Although generally very sophisticated and helpful they cause a great number of predictable and unpredictable side effects. Laser therapy offers a safe therapeutic medical modality that is free from side effects. The unique quality of laser therapy is its universal usefulness. Even if more precise conditions such as pain, oedema, zoster, paraesthesia and herpes can be treated, laser therapy also has a general beneficial influence on the immune system, thus enabling healing processes to start. After more than 30 years of use, no harmful side effects have been reported.

Laser therapy has a so far untapped potential in health care. The purpose of this book is to describe the physical and clinical aspects of laser therapy and to analyse the rich scientific literature in this field. The book will serve as a useful guide and reference work for research scientists, doctors, dentists, veterinary surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists and other workers within the medical field. Every indication discussed is supported by scientific references and all in all more than 1400 such references are listed.

Laser therapy has for some persons an aura of magic through its ability to heal longstanding medical problems. The authors are Jan Tunér, DDS and Lars Hode, Dr Sci. They have more than 16 years of clinical experience and scientific knowledge of laser physics. About the authors

Jan Tunér is a dentist in private practise, working with lasers since 1986. He is a board member of the World Association for Laser Therapy.
  Lars Hode is a physicist, specialised in medical laser applications and working with laser therapy since 1985. He is the president and founder of the Swedish Laser-Medical Society.
