Dr. Sun's In-House Dental Lab - Los Angeles

For some people dentistry is a job, for Dr. Grace Sun it is not only an art form, but a passion as well. Dr. Sun has been practicing her craft for more than 20 years, and has had her own dental lab in Los Angeles for nearly a decade. While most dentists simply take measurements of teeth and send the results to an impersonal dental lab to create veneers and crowns, Dr. Sun is a skilled ceramist and a natural artist and has her own In-House Dental Lab. Her passion for dental art started over two decades ago with bonding. She found immediate satisfaction sculpting the resin to create the perfect smile for her patients.

There were, however, some limitations with the dental bonding material as it is not as durable as porcelain. Stemming from her desire to provide the best dental artistry possible, Dr. Sun extended her education and artistic skills to crafting porcelain veneers and crowns in order to start her own Dental Lab in Los Angeles. She handcrafts each set of veneers and crowns, which are specifically designed for every individual patient.

In December of 2000, she moved her Los Angeles dental lab in-house. Now any changes or adjustments to a patients veneers or crowns can be made immediately rather than requiring an additional office visit. I found early in my career that often the biggest challenge is finding a good ceramist, Dr. Sun said. I feel personally responsible for the final results and was uncomfortable leaving that up to someone at a Dental Lab who has no personal relationship with my patient. Perfect smiles are my best advertising, which is why many patients refer their friends and family. 

Known throughout the industry as a perfectionist, Dr. Sun is constantly learning new procedures to incorporate into her dental lab procedures from other established master ceramists throughout the country and Europe.  By doing so, she stays up-to-date with the latest dental lab trends and advancements in the field and teaching her lab and dental technicians the craft of dental artistry.
