Cosmetic Teeth and Gum Contouring

Cosmetic tooth or gum contouring is a simple way to reshape uneven teeth edges or gum tissue. Tooth contouring can correct misaligned teeth, uneven lengths, ridges or grooves. Gum contouring on the other hand can fix your smile-line, the relationship of your teeth with your gum tissue and facial features.

If your teeth are too long (or are different lengths) or are slightly misshapen, tooth contouring is a conservative approach to correcting them. Gummy smiles can make your teeth appear too small or disproportional to your facial features, causing your smile to be less attractive. An uneven gum line or smile can be unsightly and can lower self-esteem – especially in the workplace.

Gum contouring involves the use of a laser (rather than a scalpel) to alter the gum line to the desired shape. Tissue is vaporized and sealed with no cutting, bleeding or sutures. Misshapen or uneven teeth will be shaped and polished to their desired shape. Depending upon the complexity of the case, cosmetic contouring may be combined with accelerated orthodontic treatment or the placement of porcelain veneers or crowns over other teeth to suit your cosmetic needs.
